Beloved Bollywood Icon Sridevi Passes

It’s with a heavy heart that we report the passing of legendary actress and beauty icon Sridevi Kapoor. Her brother in law, Sanjay Kapoor, confirms she died of cardiac arrest Saturday night. She was 54 years old. Sridevi was in the United Arab Emirates for a wedding with her husband, producer Boney Kapoor, and daughter Khushi at the time of her death.

As kids we first fell in love with her in Mr. India! Seriously there was a summer break when we watched that movie once a week!!! She was always so talented, charming, graceful and gorgeous.

Sridevi began her acting career at the age of four when she starred in M.A. Thirumugham’s devotional Thunaivan. She was 12 years old when she made her Bollywood debut in Julie, and landed her first adult role in K. Balachander’s Moondru Mudichu opposite Kamal Hassan the following year. She starred in numerous hit Bollywood films throughout the ’80s and ’90s. She took a 15-year hiatus beginning in 1997 to raise her children. She returned to the silver screen in 2012 with the blockbuster English Vinglish and starred in Mom last year.
