Raja Kumari releases new single "Shook"- Exclusive Q&A

Raja Kumari has been consistently releasing music in India and America over the last year. She follows up her Epic Records release of, "I Did It" which premiered in the summer with her new release, "Shook." Shook is a hard hip-hop banger with references to Desi empowerment and brings us a solid flow that undoubtedly shows Kumari is a force to be reckoned with. Having heard her perform live just a few weeks ago in Los Angeles – it was clear that Kumari is not only a skilled rapper, but a powerful vocalist.

We had the opportunity to chat with Raja Kumari about the production of "Shook" and the inspiration behind the video!

1. What was your inspiration when writing "Shook?”

Coming back from India, I was truly inspired to capture all the energy and excitement I felt from the Motherland

2. What was the process/production like working on the song?

It was written in Atlanta, GA with Sean Garrett. A lot of the song was based off of freestyle, and it was really exciting to say lines like “Send me Benjis over to Gandhi and now we feast.”

3. What was the inspiration for the "Shook" music video?

Working with Gil Green has always been a dream of mine. He really understood who I was as an artist, and knew exactly how to capture the power and energy of the song. We went to Miami to film it and were able to use really amazing step dancers, dance hall dancers, and Kumari Kids. It was an awesome experience to work with such a great team.

4. What can your fans expect from you next?

A lot more music and visuals, and a lot of touring in the US and Europe!
